This course is designed to familiarize the patrol officer with the dynamics and options associated with the use of ballistic shields and forcible entry during deliberate searches, including active shooter. Ballistic shields can be considered a dynamic, portable ballistic corner that can be placed anywhere between the threat and law enforcement personnel. This allows Law Enforcement officers to safely maneuver into a position of advantage to neutralize most threat(s). The advantages of using Ballistic materials during tactical operations will be born out during the training. The tactical deployment strategy of the ballistic shield is based on years of successful operation and experience associated with the New York City Police Dept Emergency Service Unit. The lead shield instructor was part of the training cadre and was an active member of ESU conducting operations for over 16 years. The Breaching instruction will be completed via the JTC Instructor CADRE

INSTRUCTOR BIO: PETER SEGRETI – 38 years of law enforcement experience. 28 years with The New York City Police Department. This includes 12 years of experience as a lead instructor for The Emergency Service Unit. He is a NYSDCJS Certified Firearms and General Topics instructor and holds many other certifications. He has participated in the creation of the New York State SWAT and SNIPER Training standards. Pete was also assigned to the NYPD – FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force and conducted operations in the NY field office. He is a certified Homeland Security instructor and conducts training around the United States. Pete has trained numerous police and military units from around the United States. Peter is a member of the NTOA and is a member and instructor for IALEFI, NRA.

Experience: Instructor Dapkins has over 20 years of Law Enforcement service and was an Assistant Team Leader of a Regional SWAT Team in NJ for over a decade. Instructor Dapkins has taught Active Shooter response, Active Shooter Updates, Forcible Entry for Patrol, and Advance Mechanical/Manual Breaching throughout the continental United States. Students range from TTPOA to NYTOA as well as the NYPD Anti-Terrorism UNIT during his tenure with Jersey Tactical Corp.
